Morning prayer was done at 8:15AM by language groups.

The moderator of the day, Stefano Ottenbreit, greeted everyone and made a light comment that inspite of the heavy day that passed, we were still energized to continue the work this day, the last day of the week.  He requested the secretariat for the synthesis.

Nestor presented the outline of the document on Pastoral Ministry. He informed the delegates that it was not yet translated to Italian. The document was divided into three main parts: Introduction; Part I –  The Parish, a part of the people of God; Part II – The Franciscan Parish Ministry; Part III – The Franciscan Method of Parish Ministry; A Prayer, Conclusion, Appendix

Following the usual process, the delegates went directly into different language groups and shared among themselves their insights and opinions. Some ideas common in the sharing were: we search for a franciscan-style of working in the parish; the relationship of the parish priest with the guardian and his community and with other members of the Franciscan family; the fraternity in mission as essential aspect; involvement of lay brothers and Secular Franciscans; renewal of parishes as community movement and others.

Another language-grouping discussion was completed in thirty minutes to answer the two questions on evangelization:

>>From what we have shared, identify essentials things that would help us renew our motives in evangelization.

Common responses: renewal of motivation, importance of experience, faith, word, fraternity, collaboration among friars and lay, on-going formation, friars conferences, flexibility, sensitivity, experience of God, missionary mobility,

>>Identify new modes or forms of evangelization that would respond to the many challenges of today.

Common responses: collaboration with NGO’s and organized movements, professionalism, media, internet, networking, arts and productions, tv and radio and print media apostolate, refounding movement, itinerant fraternity, apostolate with the young, renewal of traditional ministry, inter-provincial works, responsive to localities.

Before the afternoon session started, the moderator reminded the assembly of the proper disposal of trash and garbage. Instead of the opening prayer, he presented as guide for meditation a picture of San Damiano Cross in a non-Franciscan church with six new symbols and interpretations: the opening of the eyes, the reaching out and extended hands, the leaving from the center, the building of churches and communities, the generosity to welcome others with passion.

Ambrose Van Si was invited by the moderator and the former shared something about the common awareness of the importance of Gospel witness and evangelical testimony as starting points of evangelization.

Luis Cabrera, one of the Definitor Generals present, talked about the General Chapter. The General Chapter of 2009 on the months of May and June will focus on the theme of evangelization and mission. We proclaim the Gospel as Friars Minor with the heart bound to God.

After some initial discussions, the evaluation of the present structure of the Office of Evangelization was requested. The delegates went into their respective language-groups and discussed their ideas about the distinction of mission and missions, the secretary for mission and evangelization and moderator for mission. Many suggestions and ideas were taken into consideration for the formulation of final proposals.

Around 5:15 in the afternoon, Calvin Bugho was summoned to present an overall situation of the Philippines. Briefly, he presented the geographical, historical, socio-economic and political situations of the country. Due to limitation of time, he was not able to explore the Franciscan presence in the Philippines.

At 6:15 in evening, they gathered inside the chapel for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided over by Russell Becker and assisted by deacons Gianpaolo Menghini and Reycel Centino.
